Work backwards carefully

Write the commercial deadline, internal review date and intended submission point as separate fields. Identify which one your team controls and which would depend on a future provider arrangement. This prevents a target date from quietly becoming a promise that the proposed financial service has not made or that the customer cannot rely on.

Use uncertainty as a planning input

Ask what alternative is available if the route is not active or the provider cannot confirm a suitable service for that deadline. Avoid inventing a transfer speed, holiday treatment or cut-off. Tap Tap Go’s planned SEPA feature is coming soon; the eventual programme terms and actual eligibility would inform the calendar once confirmed.

Imagine this

An illustrative future scenario

Picture a business planning a venue deposit before an event. It distinguishes the venue’s required receipt date from its own approval meeting. If the proposed route cannot yet support a confirmed plan, the business uses an established alternative rather than promising arrival from the roadmap.

Make it practical.
