Ask for a complete exit checklist

Request the process for closing the account, handling remaining value, receiving outstanding refunds and obtaining historical records. Identify any relevant notice periods or charges in the actual agreement. Do not assume that deleting an app ends the service relationship. A good procurement comparison includes how the business leaves as well as how it joins, particularly if the platform will hold records needed for later accounting or customer enquiries.

Keep the business portable

Maintain your own authorised supplier and subscription registers, with references sufficient to reconnect records after a move. Avoid making the payment provider the only place where the company understands its purchases. If you eventually change providers, sequence the migration so essential services remain supported and unresolved items retain owners. Exit readiness is not a prediction that the relationship will fail; it is evidence that the business can make future choices without unnecessary operational dependence on one interface.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A hypothetical agency compares two payment platforms and asks both for closure guidance. One provides a clearer account of historical records and outstanding credits. That answer becomes part of the selection, because the agency values a relationship it can manage confidently throughout the full customer lifecycle.

Make it practical.
