Record the intention

Distinguish an agreed instalment from an unexplained shortfall. Both can produce a receipt below the invoice total, but they need different conversations. Keep the expected payment schedule, actual receipt and remaining obligation visible together so that a reminder does not contradict the arrangement already made with the customer.

Confirm before promising closure

Decide who may mark the invoice complete and what evidence they need. A customer message or submitted instruction might explain intent without establishing the final amount received. Tap Tap Go’s proposed euro rails are coming soon, and the eventual programme will determine the available statuses and records. Your commercial ledger should still explain the remainder in plain language.

Imagine this

An illustrative future scenario

Imagine a consultant agreeing a deposit followed by a completion payment. The first future euro receipt is recorded against the deposit milestone, leaving the completion amount open. The client sees a correct remaining balance rather than an alarming overdue notice.

Make it practical.
