Capture the learning state

Record the participant's agreed task, what they completed, what remains and the next question. Include only information needed for the session. A broad label such as 'needs help' gives the next coach little to work with. The participant should be able to check the summary and correct any misunderstanding before it is passed on.

Resume from the last useful point

The incoming facilitator briefly confirms the summary rather than repeating discovery in full. Ask whether anything changed since the previous meeting. Use the same approved references so the participant does not receive incompatible instructions. A handover should preserve momentum while leaving room for a changed goal; it is not a requirement to continue an exercise that no longer matters.

Imagine this

Hypothetical programme scene

Hypothetically, a customer prepared a portfolio but still needs to clarify its enquiry route. A substitute coach reads that summary and starts with the open decision. The customer does not have to repeat the entire story of why they joined the workshop.

Make it practical.
