Plan the transition story

Explain the change briefly where existing contacts are likely to encounter it. Update names, logos, descriptions and contact routes consistently. Identify documents and profile links that still carry the old identity. A rebrand may be visually immediate, but operational continuity requires reviewing the whole journey. Do not assume that every recipient saw the announcement on your main social channel.

Protect the old entry points

Check what happens when someone uses an old link, saved contact or printed card. Use supported redirects or clear transition information where appropriate. Verify the public result rather than relying on internal configuration alone. Keep a record of changes and an owner for unresolved items. The aim is to let established relationships continue smoothly while making the new identity understandable to first-time visitors.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A hypothetical consultancy changes its brand name. Its profile includes a short transition note, while old links lead to the current page through the supported setup. The team also updates saved-contact fields and shared documents so the rebrand does not create several competing identities.

Make it practical.
