Make the decision

List every destination reachable from your profile, including social accounts, booking pages, portfolios, documents and payment-related pages. For each link, record its purpose, owner and intended audience. This exercise often reveals duplicate routes or assets nobody maintains. Remove anything that no longer supports the current introduction. A link inventory is an operational record, not a reason to collect visitors’ personal information or track every action they take.

Put it into practice

Open each destination using a signed-out browser on a phone. Check the title, current content, access requirements and next step. Mark broken links separately from links that technically open but show an old service or former employee. Assign someone to fix each issue before the event. After any major profile change, repeat the journey from the original shared link; testing only the final page can miss a problem in the route people actually use.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A team finds that its profile’s booking link still opens the previous quarter’s consultation offer. It replaces the destination, checks the event QR code, and confirms the same route works on mobile. The fix is recorded with an owner so the link is reviewed after the event.

Make it practical.
