Translate the headline into your routine

List account access, funding, transfers, currency conversion, card issuance, replacement and statement exports as separate activities. Ask the provider to mark which are included in the proposed package and supply current terms for anything chargeable. An account opening price is only one item in that list. Your comparison should reflect the routine you intend to run rather than an idealised customer who never needs support, changes currency or replaces a credential.

Look at the quiet months too

Model a busy month and a month with little activity. Ask about minimum commitments, inactivity, closure and plan changes where those terms are relevant. Keep a separate column for costs that depend on your choices and costs triggered by the account itself. The useful outcome is a predictable operating budget, not a search for the smallest word on a pricing page or a presumption that every provider charges in the same way.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A hypothetical freelancer uses a payment account heavily during project launches and rarely between them. A comparison that includes both patterns reveals which package fits that rhythm. She can then ask precise questions about the quiet periods before deciding whether a headline-free account suits her work.

Make it practical.
