The editorial decision

A correction policy should explain where readers can report an issue and what information helps the team investigate. Ask for the article, the disputed statement and supporting evidence where available. Do not require a reader to prove the entire case before acknowledging a plausible concern. Name the internal owner who reviews reports and decide how urgent issues affecting commercial decisions will be escalated.

A working method

When a report arrives, preserve the relevant version and check the claim against the evidence. If a correction changes the meaning of the article, explain the change visibly rather than silently replacing a sentence. Minor typographical fixes may not need the same treatment. Record the outcome, including cases where the original statement remains supported. Use recurring corrections to improve research and approval practices. The goal is a dependable publication, not an unrealistic promise that no mistake will ever appear.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A reader points out that an article describes a proposed service as available. The editor checks the source, corrects the wording and adds a short note explaining the status change. The internal review process is updated so future roadmap statements receive a specific availability check.

Make it practical.
