Classify alerts by required response
Separate information-only notices from events requiring review, approval or urgent contact. Ask the provider which notification settings and delivery channels it supports. Assign a responsible recipient to each actionable category and define what they should do. A large number of alerts does not automatically create visibility if nobody can identify which ones need attention or if every employee assumes another person is reviewing the same message.
Test delivery and ownership
During a permitted trial, confirm that notifications reach the intended person and can be connected to the relevant transaction. Check what happens when that person is unavailable. Review alert usefulness after a short operating period and adjust settings through the supported controls. The goal is a manageable monitoring routine, with an escalation path for exceptions, rather than a system that produces impressive activity but leaves important issues unattended because the team has learned to ignore the noise.
Hypothetical example
A hypothetical agency sends every payment alert to a shared inbox. Important exceptions are overlooked among routine receipts. The team reorganises routing around defined responsibilities and a backup reviewer, making the same notification feature more useful without assuming that a new dashboard alone will solve the monitoring problem.
Make it practical.
