Label the economic event

For every inflow, state who pays, what they receive, when the money becomes available and whether there are conditions. Territory investment may finance a local entity or a wider programme. It is not automatically revenue earned by the platform, and its treatment requires appropriate professional review.

Build separate reporting lines

Show committed capital, received capital, retail sales value, platform revenue and cash collected as separate measures. Attach a definition to each. This prevents a large territory funding target from being added to customer sales and presented as a single revenue opportunity without explaining what actually belongs to the business.

Check the direction of funds

Trace where money goes after receipt. Some funds may support inventory, marketing, deposits or local operations. Show transfers between related parties separately from external customer receipts. Decision-makers need to understand deployable resources as well as the commercial activity those resources are expected to support. Add a recipient column to the funding table. If local territory capital stays with a local operating partner, explain which activities it supports and whether any amount flows to the platform. This prevents a network funding total from being mistaken for central cash.

Imagine this

Illustrative operating example

Hypothetically, a local partner invests $1 million and customers purchase $400,000 of products. The two amounts total $1.4 million of different gross inflows, not $1.4 million of revenue or profit. Ownership and commercial arrangements determine the appropriate reporting.

Make it practical.
