Give a realistic task

Ask the reviewer to determine what you do, who it is for and how to take the next step. Let them explore before explaining the page. Their questions show where the profile relies on jargon, unexplained credentials or hidden navigation. Do not ask only whether they like the design; that invites a preference discussion instead of evidence about comprehension.

Turn observations into edits

Record the exact point of confusion and compare it with the intended message. Prioritise changes that affect understanding or action. Not every unfamiliar term must be removed, but important specialist language may need a short explanation. Repeat the task after revisions with another suitable reader if possible. The aim is not to appeal equally to everyone, but to make the intended audience’s first encounter clearer.

Imagine this

Hypothetical example

A hypothetical founder asks a business owner from another sector to review a profile. The reviewer understands the visual style but cannot tell whether the offer is software or consulting. A revised first sentence resolves the confusion without changing the overall design.

Make it practical.
